Muir Woods National Monument
Visit Muir Woods, home of Coastal Sequoias, tallest living objects on Earth. Coast redwoods occupy a narrow strip of land along the Pacific coast of North America;
The native area provides a unique environment with heavy seasonal rains. Cool coastal air and fog drip keep the forest consistently damp year round. Several factors, including the heavy rainfall, create a soil with fewer nutrients than the trees need, causing them to depend heavily on the entire biotic community of the forest, and making efficient recycling of dead trees especially important. The Muir Woods National Monument is an old-growth coastal redwood forest. Due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the forest is regularly shrouded in a coastal marine layer fog, contributing to a wet environment that encourages vigorous plant growth. Visit this amazing little town famous for its history and stunning views of downtown San Franciso, Bay Bridge, and Angel Island.
Enjoy amazing restaurants, art galleries, and great little stores.
If you want to stay longer in Sausalito, you can take the Ferry back to the city. It will cost you $15 per person.
